I have never seen my mom this angry before,it seem like I am dreaming.i stood transfixed at a spot trying to place a finger on the reason why my mom suddenly went uproar at the mention of the okenwa’s family.i don’t really have any beef experience with the family except ofcourse,termin
ating a teacher from school just because she twisted her teaching and for slapping Adaego. Yeah I know she is actually wrong but terminating her from work is actually wrong too, I wonder what she will be doing to earn a living now that is if she is still alive.i love my mom and I can’t bear to see her unhappy,if staying away from Adaego is her choice then it shall be done, but can I really do that?. Well only time can tell.

I felt withdraw from my mom that day,i caught her on different occasions that evening thinking about what I couldn’t place my hand on and I dare not ask. Since she don’t want to tell me,i can’t forced her either,is it not to stay away from Adaego?,I will do it or so I thought.

I got to school early the next day and as usual,the assembly was conducted in good terms and we marched into our various classes after the principal announcement,concerning the governor’s cup,advicing the boys to get prepared really well for the biggest event ever hosted in decades.he also said some few things on the quiz and also the inter Class swimming competition which is going to be done along with the inter class football competition. That day was on Friday so there was less activities to be done coupled with the fact that we were giving time to study very well for the final quiz which Was to hold by 10 a.m.my main objective in school that day is to stay away from Adaego just like my mum commanded,which she seem to be helping me out greatly in doing that cos she don’t even care whether I was in the class or not. Vincent was busy playing around the class with adeaze and Anabel, they seem to be getting attached well and I am really happy for them. Anabel swollen face has healed drastically though the red spot is still visibly seen cos of her fair skin.i already told them to let me prepare for the quiz which they agreed to,making out by themselves alone.well I don’t blame them, afterall they are not the ones participating for the quiz. Adaego rested her head on the desk like no man business,i promise to stay away from her,funny enough I find myself yearning for her attention,it is really easier said than done. Inasmuch as I hate to admit it,i am not a Kid anymore I know what I feel, I know I am in love with Adaego but why her?, why will I fall in love with her of all people?, I dont even stand a chance in dating her and I don’t think Vincent theory of adaego feeling the same thing for me is correct.i mean,if she do why did she keep avoiding me like a plaque at times,why will she be acting like a chameleon to me?. The little chance I have to hear her sweet voice that always melt my soul my mum is insisting that I should stay away from her,that is not gonna be possible as far as she don’t want to tell me the reason why she is against her dad. What happen between them is their life, and this my life, I must look for a way to Change this Adaego Madness of always shunning me.

The time move swiftly and in no distance time we were summon to the hall for the Final quiz. Everywhere was completely filled up by students, staff and parents who came to watch their children Challenge,the knockout stage was just for students and the final stage is really a sight to behold. The hall was fully design to the blinks in other to catch the fancy of the rich parents in the building.i and the rest of my selected crews including Isabella sat down comfortably facing the ss3 selected 5 students of which Richard and Mariam were included. I was scared,completely scared of the eyes staring at us while Isabella whom has not said anyword that day since school started for the day sat close to me on the chairs arranged in role for the competitors which make me super nervous.we sat down comfortably and the master of ceremony open the quiz with is speech.
“good day,ladies and gentlemen,our staffs of this great school,the principal and all the teachers who made it there responsibility to impact knowledge into the lives of all the students in this school, teaching them the important of education as the only key to Success”.he said and waved of hands on the air along with shout of joy coerce by the students took over the air.
“this quiz cannot be started without accolading the parents,who are here today to watch their children annual quiz challenges just like the year before,we thank you all for coming”.he concluded and called on the principal who also give his speech and a opening prayer was said by one of the parents then the quiz kicked on. Questions were popping up according to the numbers each student’s choose and I must accolade the ss3 for their intelligent and especially Mariam and Richard. They are really brillant even though they are stupid.many of the questions are from the ss3 syllable making it very difficult for us but all thanks to Adaego who was saving us from the heat and ofcourse I, cos I also tried my best too. The other 3 students selected with us are just like bonus,it would have been better if I and Adaego were selected alone cos they contribute just a little to.we came to the c----x of the quiz but the judges where unable to announce the winner cos both class score the same percentage.yeah you can say it again,no quiz has ever been like that but we did it. Surprises were all over the staffs expression including the principal who smiled cheerfully while total uproar went roudy at the students section. The staffs and the judges went into an incoherent meeting for minutes while we sat down waiting for them,finally the principal collected the mic from the mc for an announcement.
“I am really Happy today,it has been the best day of my life and the first time I have ever witness what Happen here today ever in history. This is quiz and there must be a winner not a draw,the awards will be giving to any class that can answer this simple but hard question”he said and handed the mic to the mc along with a piece of paper while we waited steadily for the question. The mc stare kingly at the written note and he smiled cheerfully making us super nervous.
“the winner of the quiz shall go to the first pairs that can recite the alphabet backward and very fast without stopping starting from the letter “Z”.
“what!, I exclaimed as Mumuring words could be heard from Every side of the hall while the judges,parent and the staff giggle.we all stare at eachother including the ss3 who were extremely confuse pointing at themselves on who to answer the question. I tried to answer it in my mind but I failed along the line and at that point I agreed to the theory that the little things in the world are more critical than the hard ones we do everyday.mariam stood abrutedly to answer the question and we waited steadily for her cos to me we have loose already,there is no way the alphabet can be recite backward and very fast.
“Z,Y,X,W,V,U.”she hooked swallowing her saliver and the time keeper ring the bell which signify her timeup.
“any other person that can make an attempt? “the mc announce smiling cheerfully.to me no one can do that and I have already given up hope.
“in the absent of no other attempt i hereby postpone…..”.
“I will”.the mc wanted to say something when Adaego interrupted him and the whole hall went into a pin drop silence.
“Z. Y. X. W. V. U. T. S. R. Q. P. O. N. M. L. K. J. I. H. G. F. E. D. C. B. A”she concluded and and uproar of shouting took over the air combined with applause including The judges and the staff,and we were announced as the winner of the quiz by the judges.different awards were given to us ranging from all the textbooks of the 18 science and art subjects and we were giving handless tops with the name prestigious kings annual Quiz winners”boldly written on it.the principal collected the mic in other to make his final announcement and he collected it smiling cheerfully.
“in addition to the awards granted to the winners of the quiz,i hereby announce that this 5 students are no longer under any students including the prefect,they are independent and can only be discipline by the staffs alone from now on till the next annual prestigious King’s quiz”.he announce and another round of applause took over the air. Vincent raised me off my feet the moment I step down from the hall, including adaeze, Anabel and other male and female students who were hailing and praising us.Adaego was smiling cheerfully all through for the first time as people were using the opportunity to get close to her in a bid to congratulate us. Our happiness and joy was caught short by a loud shout and wailing outside by students and we became extremely surprised.we ran outside including the staff,parents and students and we became shocked.we saw Richard completely naked with his d--k dangling in between his legs while running up and down the field saying some incoherent useless words as some students tried to catch hold of him which was to know avail as he use them to run around the whole field throwing anything he come across with anyone that try to come close to him while the girls busted in a severe laughter at the size and dangling of his d--k
