One killed as herdsmen raped university student to coma in plateau

There was pandemonium late Sunday night till the early hours of Monday in the Plateau State University, Bokkos, when suspected herders broke into the school premises and raped a-300 level female student, leaving her unconscious.

Security operatives, who came for rescue, also shot and killed a-100 level student, who colleagues said was fired while running in the ensuing melee.
The aforementioned incident resulted in a violent protest on Monday morning as students barricaded major entrances to the institution and barred staff from gaining entrance into the school.
Reliably from a student, who pleaded anonymity, “I don’t stay on the campus but I live very close to the school. It was around 10pm or 11pm that the thing happened and I got a call that some unknown people came and raped a student in the hostel and left her unconscious.
The student further explained that, “This situation is very sad, we have been talking about the security of students in the school but no effort has been made.
Meantime, the State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, who confirmed the incident said, “At about 11pm, unknown hoodlums now at large attacked the Plateau State University, Bokkos.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, John Agam in a statement said, “The Vice Chancellor Plateau State University, Bokkos Professor Yohana Izam has confirmed the unfortunate news of an attack on one of its female hostels by suspected hoodlums on the night of Sunday.
